Wild springtime gardens. Ferns, columbine, jack-in-the-pulpit, solomons seal, wild phlox, forget-me-nots that have gone wild and nodding trillium. Spring gardens are so well-behaved, beautiful gentle ephemerals so welcome.
With gardens as beautiful as this, that design and plant themselves, why do we garden at all. (I always think those "nodding" trilliums are sort of disappointing, don't you?) Nice Jack-in-the-Pulpit.

It looks so much like my wild spring garden! I just love the columbine and the solomon's seal, and how they spend the day nodding in agreement.

Yeah but. . . then we went to Gloria's . . . now nodding trilliums are rare and beautiful!
